Castle Mountain Zeolite is an effective filter medium and can be used to remove offensive odours and pollutants from effluent streams. It has a high affinity for ammonium and some disolved sulphur compounds and hence is effective at reducing a wide range of offensive odours.
Castle Mountain Zeolite also absorbs dangerous heavy metals from solutions and therefore can transfer a heavy metal contamination problem of many thousands of litres of effluent to a few kilos of easily handled solid. Toxic metals are firmly held in the crystal structure and do not leach, however for ultimate environmental protection the solid Zeolite can be cement stabilised.
